California’s Highway Safety Improvement Program (HISP) funds infrastructure projects for the purpose of achieving a significant reduction in fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads.
For HSIP Cycle 8, Willdan's Traffic Engineering Group prepared multiple applications on behalf of the Cities of Inglewood, Hawaiian Gardens, La Puente, and South Gate in L.A. County, and provided engineering support on two applications for the City of Rialto in San Bernardino County. All 10 applications that Willdan prepared or assisted on were selected for funding.
Inglewood was awarded over $2.6 million for four projects that involved traffic signal improvements and the construction of a raised center median. Hawaiian Gardens will receive $860,000 for two traffic signal improvement projects along major roadways. La Puente was awarded $780,000 to make pedestrian crossing improvements at 8 locations. South Gate will receive over $1.4 million to construct raised center medians along Long Beach Blvd. Rialto, for the two applications that Willdan assisted with, was awarded over $2 million to implement traffic signal improvements and to construct a raised center median.
