The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa

Central Plant and HVAC Systems Upgrade

As part of a national corporate initiative aimed at every property in the Starwood portfolio, the 30/20 By 20 Climate Action and Energy Reduction Plan challenged Westin Mission Hills to reduce its gas and electric energy consumption by 30% and water by 20% by the year 2020. In less than one year, Willdan helped the hotel reduce its energy consumption by 14.6%, or a total of 1,100,000 kWh.

Willdan maximized savings in energy and project costs by recommending a strategic blend of low-cost, highly energy-efficient measures and more cost-intensive measures with long-term operational benefits and by coordinating equipment and installation details to be compliant with incentive and rebate requirements. Willdan helped to secure over $180,000 in utility funding for the project. In 2013, the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa won a Cool Planet Award for their extensive projects in energy efficiency.
