In July 2014, Con Edison’s Targeted Demand Side Management (TDSM) department partnered with the Small Business Direct Install (SBDI) program team to expand the SBDI program’s reach and impact by offering innovative, free lighting energy conservation measures (ECMs) to customers in a targeted load pocket. The sub-program sought to achieve an aggressive 7.5MW of electric demand reduction by May 31, 2015. Con Edison enlisted Willdan Lighting & Electric (WLE) of New York to sell the ECMs, which included multiple types of LED lighting upgrades such as overheads, exterior lighting, and screw-based bulbs, based on our strong performance to date implementing the SBDI program and our strong rapport with customers in the target area.
WLE exceeded its goal and delivered 9MW of electric demand reduction one week prior to the original deadline. Willdan thanks the more than 20 surveyors, 40 installers and office staff who contributed to making this effort a tremendous success.
