On August 17, 2016, The Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology will formally launch the Keating Building AC/DC Nanogrid Project developed by Mohammad Shahidehpour, a member of Willdan's Board of Directors. Dr. Shahidepour is Bodine Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Director of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation, and Associate Director of the Wanger Institute for Sustainability and Energy Research (WISER). Dr. Mehdi Ganji, Willdan Vice President in charge of advanced grid technology, and his team were involved in the development of the IIT AC/DC microgrid.
Dr. Shahidepour and Dr. Ganji have already implemented a microgrid at IIT (location seen in aerial view). However, the Keating Sports Center will demonstrate the first hybrid AC/DC islandable nanogrid at the college.
