Amir Salarifard, Energy Engineer at Willdan Energy Solution’s Houston office, was recently honored for winning the 2015 ASHRAE Illinois Chapter scholarship. Amir was also a recipient of this scholarship in 2014.

Every year, the Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE awards scholarships to four or five students who are academically superior and actively involved in ASHRAE. This scholarship is very competitive, and the recipients are chosen based on both academic and non-academic activities. Amir was the Research Committee chair of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s ASHRAE. He encouraged students to become involved in ASHRAE Research, and held tours for students to learn about sustainability and green projects, including the Illinois Solar tour, Lincoln Hall tour, etc.
