Willdan congratulates two of its customers from the Southern California Edison (SCE) Lodging Energy Efficiency Program (LEEP) and Healthcare Energy Efficiency Program (HEEP) for their awarding-winning energy upgrade projects. The Cool Planet Award, presented by The Climate Registry and SCE, recognizes SCE business customers who demonstrate exemplary leadership in energy and carbon management within its business size and industry sector.

In the hospitality sector, the Balboa Bay Club was the recipient of the 2017 Cool Planet Award. Since 2011, Willdan has supported several energy efficiency projects at the property, including central plant and lighting upgrades. These projects have helped the Balboa Bay Club to save just under 1 million kWh. They also received $66,000 of incentives from SCE for installing these projects.

In the healthcare sector, Torrance Memorial Medical Center (TMMC) was the recipient of the 2017 Cool Planet Award. Since 2011, Willdan has supported many energy efficiency projects at the facility, including chiller optimization, a cooling tower retrofit, and airside upgrades. These projects have helped TMMC to save just over 4.5 million kWh. They also received $534,000 of incentives from SCE for installing these projects.

Together, all the 2017 Cool Planet Award recipients have saved 14 million kilowatt-hours since January 2014 through the implementation of various SCE energy efficiency projects, which is equivalent to removing the carbon dioxide emissions from the electricity use of over 1,450 homes in one year.
