In its September 2016 newsletter, California Hotel & Lodging Association featured an article about the national energy savings program by Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc. at 19 properties in 10 states, in close partnership with Willdan. The piece details in particular a pilot project at Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel which was named SDG&E Energy Champion in the hospitality category in 2013.

Upgrades are saving 2,545 mWh of electricity and 24,700 therms of gas per year, the equivalent of avoiding the CO₂ from 400 passenger vehicles. Project costs were offset by $167,600 in LEEP incentives.)
