Microgrids and Smart Cities in Practice: Two presentations by Mehdi Ganji on April 12

Dr. Mehdi Ganji

Dr. Mehdi Ganji, Vice President at Willdan’s Energy Solutions division and leader of its Smart Cities team, will speak at back-to-back events on April 12, 2017.

At “Microgrids Done Right” at the 2017 Electric Power conference, Dr. Ganji will feature a NY Prize Community Microgrid case study showing practical microgrid solutions being implemented today, followed by Andy Haun of Schneider Electric. This breakout session 4C takes place at 9:00 am – 10:15 am on April 12.

IEEE Power and Energy Society, Chicago Chapter, will feature Dr. Ganji on Smart Cities on April 12 from noon to 1pm, after its luncheon. Dr. Ganji will talk about the dimensions of Smart Cities, what the building blocks are to deploy smart cities efficiently and cost effectively, what the starting point is to develop these projects, and who the major players are. Dr. Ganji collaborates with Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) on numerous smart grid research and implementation projects focusing on demand response and ancillary services procurement, electrical vehicle fleet as mobile storage units, transactive energy, energy management systems, and optimal load scheduling in commercial- and residential-based microgrids.
